A New Scent

Whether it’s the classic ballet flats that you envision or the legendary quilted bag, Chanel means many things to many people, but the house may be most famous for its scents.

Gabriel “Coco” Chanel (1883 – 1971), the girl from a humble background who made her way into Paris’s high society and became an international fashion icon, decided in 1921 that she wanted to create a perfume for her new, successful, fashion business. Paul Poiret was one of the early predecessors in establishing a fragrance house, and Coco took his lead by creating her first scent, Chanel No. 5.

Over the course of its history, Chanel has only had two other perfumers to create fragrances for the brand. Ernest Beaux was the first, followed by Henri Robert, and finally Jacques Polge, the exclusive Chanel master perfumer since 1978.

One of the most exciting new scents that Polge introduced is Cristalle Eau Verte. Polge re-imagines the beloved classic Cristalle in a crisp, modern version that is sheer and spirited. Magnolia notes are rendered transparent with fresh citrus and Neroli accents. The mild floral bouquet hints ever so slightly at a coming spring, and is the perfect antidote to the heavy winter nights ahead of us.

Cristalle Eau Vert is perfect for a loved one this holiday season. Find this and other Chanel scents at Hirshleifers now.
