Versace is not a name often accompanied by such adjectives as classic, clean and modern. It’s typically a collection awash in bright colors and prints, and bold statement pieces.

However, Versace’s Resort collection this season, though respectfully maintaining some print and embellishment, was more focused on solids and color-block combinations. The oomph came from such details as braided fabric or leather and oversized grommets and buttons.

This is certainly a return-to-basics collection, and it is a welcome palate cleanser. The strong theme of neutral tans, whites and blacks with a splash of bright pink are hues that will stay relevant for some time, and work back easily to any brightly colored ensemble from previous or future collections.
