Prints-A-Plenty at Alexander McQueen

If we haven’t convinced you yet that 80’s subcultures are running rampant through most collections this Resort season, the bold prints and patterns at Alexander McQueen should turn you into a believer.

Although it was the idea of “an artist in his studio” that inspired McQueen this season, one can’t help but notice the bold graphic prints, strong shoulders and slinky shapes that scream corporate excess and power suits.  However, a strict interpretation of the decade is only for amateurs, as a designer as talented and distinguished as McQueen could only create something so vaguely reminiscent and yet still so forward thinking.

A great fitted dress, such as this black, blue and grey version available at Hirshleifers, is the perfect silhouette for spanning the seasons – wear it now with thick black tights and knee high boots or come warmer weather, pair it with strappy black flats and dangly earrings.
