Just when you thought the house of Balenciaga couldn’t delight and surprise you any more (that Nicolas Ghesquiere always puts together an amazing collection each season), they are at it again with a special collection called Edition.
The design studio selected several key designs from the house archives of Cristobal Balenciaga dating between 1952 and 1967. The construction and design of each archival item is carefully studied, and then replicated with current manufacturing techniques.
Each piece has a special label that denotes it is part of this unique collection. Each style is a true historical masterpiece, and each design honors the original creator in his appreciation and sense of fashion and detail.
The handbags are true collector’s items, and though dating more than half a century old in design, look as fresh and contemporary as any handbag available today. And the dress designs, such as this lacey black piece, could be part of any starlet’s red carpet look.
