An American Vintage

Sep 1, 2010

Nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, in the Big Sur region, lies the town of Monterey Bay.  Monterey Bay was built by the hands of Chinese laborers and became famous for the canneries that brought prosperity to the area during the Great Depression.

The city is rich with history and character – John Steinbeck wrote about Monterey in his novel Cannary Row, giving insight into the hardships and tough life of this hard-working community.

Levi’s has created a series of vintage styles inspired by the spirit of Monterey Bay.   Monterey has remained a community motivated by its founding fathers, who toiled through hardships and difficult times.  But the community found prosperity and is today one of the most affluent areas in the country, and attributes its success to the simple truth of an honest-to-goodness hard days’ work.

Levi’s presents its new vintage series for fall – Find your piece of American history at Hirshleifers ETC now.
